Why should I use a licensed contractor to install my technology? Can’t anyone hook this stuff up?

While the state of North Carolina allows you to personally complete your own wiring in your home as long as you will be residing in the home for a minimum of one year after electrical installation is completed, it is highly recommended a licensed electrical contractor is hired. All electrical installations, changes, additions, or modifications are subject to permitting and inspections, and it is a legal requirement. Most homeowners neglect to take out the necessary electrical permits and get an inspection of the work they complete.

Using a licensed contractor ensures that all electrical is code compliant. Personally, I passed the North Carolina electricians exam with a 93%. The state requires a 70% to pass the exam, and only 33% of those who take the exam actually pass.
